Siboney is a small village in Cuba. It is located in the eastern part of the country. Siboney is part of the city of Santiago de Cuba. It is also known as a people's council, which is a local government area.

Location and Landscape

This village is right next to the beautiful Caribbean Sea. It is found along the coastal road. This road connects Santiago to a place called Baconao. The area is known for its lovely beaches and ocean views.

Siboney has played a part in important historical events. In 1898, during the Spanish–American War, American forces landed here. They also landed at a nearby village called Daiquirí. Two ships were later named after this town: the World War I transport ship USS Siboney (ID-2999) and the escort carrier USS Siboney (CVE-112).

Siboney was also a key spot before the start of the Cuban Revolution. A famous leader named Fidel Castro and his group met at a farm here. This meeting happened just before they attacked the Moncada Barracks. Many people see this attack as the beginning of the Cuban Revolution.
