Sicuani is a town located in southern Peru. It is the main town of Canchis Province in the Cusco Region. About 54,672 people live here.
A very important natural feature in Sicuani is the Urubamba River. This river starts its journey right here. It flows north through many different landscapes and types of plants. The Urubamba River was extremely important to the ancient Inca Empire and other cultures before them.
The Urubamba River eventually joins another big river to form the Ucayali River. This river then meets the Marañon River to create the mighty Amazon River. The Amazon River crosses the entire continent of South America and finally empties into the Atlantic Ocean.
