Welcome to the Sid Richardson Museum! This amazing art museum is in historic Sundance Square in Fort Worth, Texas. It's a special place where you can see beautiful paintings of the American West.

The museum shows art by famous artists like Frederic Remington and Charles M. Russell. These artists painted scenes from the late 1800s and early 1900s. Their art shows what life was like in the American West, including cowboys, Native Americans, and wild landscapes.

All the paintings you see here were part of the personal collection of a man named Sid Williams Richardson. He was a successful businessman who loved art. He bought these paintings between 1942 and 1959. Besides Remington and Russell, you'll also find art by other talented artists like Oscar E. Berninghaus, William Gilbert Gaul, Frank Tenney Johnson, and William R. Leigh.

The museum also has a new exhibition called Remington and Russell in Black and White. It features drawings and prints these artists made for books and magazines.

About the Museum Building

The Sid Richardson Museum first opened its doors in 1982. The building itself looks like an old building from 1895. It fits right in with the other historic buildings in downtown Fort Worth.

The people who run the museum, the Sid Richardson Foundation, chose this spot carefully. They wanted it to be easy for visitors and people working downtown to visit. They also loved the old-fashioned feel of the area.

In 2006, the museum got a big makeover. It used to be called the Sid Richardson Collection of Western Art. The renovation made the museum bigger, with more space for art, learning, and a gift shop. In 2020, the gift shop area was changed to create a special gallery that introduces you to the collection.
