Sidmar Antônio Martins, born on June 13, 1962, is a former professional football player from Brazil. He played as a goalkeeper, which means his job was to stop the opposing team from scoring goals. After his playing career, Sidmar became a coach. He is currently a goalkeeper coach for a team called Vissel Kobe.
Sidmar's Football Journey
Sidmar started his football career in Brazil, playing for several different clubs. He was a dedicated goalkeeper for many years before moving to play internationally.
Playing in Brazil
Sidmar began his professional journey in 1979 with Guarani. He spent several years there, learning and improving his skills as a goalkeeper. After Guarani, he played for other Brazilian teams like XV de Novembro-Piracicaba, Bahia, Portuguesa Desportos, and Grêmio. He often returned to XV de Novembro-Piracicaba during his career.
Moving to Japan
In 1993, Sidmar made a big move to Japan, joining the team Shimizu S-Pulse. This was a new and exciting challenge for him. He played as their main goalkeeper for two seasons, from 1993 to 1994. During this time, he played in 47 league games, showing his skills in goal.
He returned to Shimizu S-Pulse for a short period in 1995, playing in 14 more league matches. His time in Japan was an important part of his career, as he helped his team in the J1 League, which is Japan's top football league. Later, in 2017, he briefly joined Fujieda MYFC in the J3 League, though he did not play any games.
Life After Playing
After retiring as a player, Sidmar decided to stay involved in football. He used his many years of experience as a goalkeeper to become a coach. He now helps train other goalkeepers, teaching them the skills and techniques needed to protect the goal. He is currently a goalkeeper coach for Vissel Kobe, a team in Japan.
