Siempre Contigo (which means "Always With You" in English) is the twelfth music album by the famous Mexican pop singer and actress Lucero. It came out in 1994. This album was very popular, selling over 700,000 copies in Mexico and the United States. It even reached number 15 on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart, which lists the most popular Latin music albums.
This was the third album that Rafael Pérez Botija wrote, produced, and arranged for Lucero. It was a big success for both of them! Rafael Pérez Botija had another song called "Un Mundo sin Amor" (A World Without Love) ready for the album. But Lucero decided not to include it. She wanted this album to be all about happy, "victorious" love. Lucero told a Mexican magazine called Eres that she was very proud of Siempre Contigo. She felt it had something for everyone and was perfect for the whole family to enjoy at home.
The first song released from the album was the title track, "Siempre Contigo". This song became a huge hit! It reached number 1 in Mexico and number 4 in the United States. At this time, Lucero was often competing with another big star, Luis Miguel, for the top spots on the Mexican music charts. "Siempre Contigo" stayed at number 1 for three weeks. Then, Luis Miguel's song "El Día Que Me Quieras" took over the top spot.
When the second song, "¿Quién Soy Yo?" (Who Am I?), was released, Lucero reached number 2 on the charts. Again, Luis Miguel's song "La Media Vuelta" was at number 1.
Later, the third song, "Palabras" (Words), was released. This time, Lucero spent five weeks at the very top of the charts! Two more songs from the album also became singles: "Como Perro al Sol" and "Volvamos a Empezar".
In 1995, Lucero was starring in a TV show called Lazos de Amor. There were plans to re-release the Siempre Contigo album. The idea was to add the song "Lazos de Amor" to the album to help it sell even more copies. At that time, the album had already sold 350,000 copies. However, these plans changed. Instead of a re-release, a shorter album called an EP was released. This EP included the "Lazos de Amor" song and four instrumental versions of other songs.
