Signe Lund-Skabo (born April 15, 1868 – died April 6, 1950) was a talented Norwegian composer and music teacher. She wrote many pieces of music and helped people learn about music.

Early Life and Education

Signe Lund was born in Christiania, which is now called Oslo, in Norway. Her father, Henrik Louis Bull Lund, was a military officer. Her mother, Birgitte Theodora Carlsen, was a pianist. Signe also had a brother, Henrik Lund, who became a famous artist.

Signe loved music from a young age. She studied music at the Oslo Conservatory of Music. This is a special school where people learn to play instruments and compose music. She had several teachers there, including Erika Nilsson, Per Winge, and Iver Holter.

After her studies in Oslo, Signe traveled to other countries to learn more. She studied music in Berlin, Copenhagen, and Paris. After finishing her studies, she worked as a teacher in Norway. She married Jørgen Skabo and later a French architect named George Robards.

Life in the United States

Around 1900, Signe Lund moved to the United States. She started teaching at Mayville State Normal School in Mayville, North Dakota. She became involved in groups that worked for social change and farmers' rights.

Signe was also active in supporting peace. She helped collect signatures to ask for the release of Kate Richards O'Hare from prison. Kate Richards O'Hare was an activist who spoke out against war. Because of Signe's actions, she lost her teaching job at Mayville.

Later, Signe worked in New York City and Chicago. She performed her music and gave talks to people until 1920.
