Silvana Caterina Kerstich was born on February 9, 1942. She was born in a place called Zadar, which is now part of Croatia. She went to school in Italy. In 1951, she moved to Australia with her parents. They came as refugees, seeking a new home. Silvana finished her schooling in Brisbane, Australia. She then studied fine arts and literature at the University of Queensland. After her studies, Silvana became a visual artist. She also started writing poetry.

Her art can be seen in many big collections. These are in Australia, Canada, and America. Some places include the National Gallery of Victoria and the Queensland Art Gallery.

Helping Young People

Silvana Gardner also loves to help young people. She has been part of many literary workshops. She has done poetry readings and youth festivals. She also runs writing workshops in schools.
