The University of Queensland (also known as UQ) is a large university in southeast Queensland, Australia. It has three main campuses. These are located in St Lucia and Herston, which are in Brisbane City. The third campus is at Gatton, to the west of Brisbane.

UQ started in 1910. This makes it the oldest and one of the biggest universities in Queensland. It is known for being a very good university. UQ is often ranked among the top 100 universities in the world.

The University of Queensland is famous for its high-quality teaching and research. It is a member of the Group of Eight. This is a group of leading research universities in Australia. UQ is also part of Universitas 21, a network of research-intensive universities around the world. These connections show how important UQ is globally.

Many well-known people have studied at UQ. These include famous actors and scientists. For example, Geoffrey Rush, a well-known actor, went to UQ. Peter C. Doherty, a surgeon who won a Nobel Prize, also studied here.

Several important leaders from Australia graduated from UQ. This includes Quentin Bryce, who was a past Governor-General of Australia. She was the Queen's representative in Australia. Many of Queensland's Premiers (like a state governor) also studied at UQ. These include Anna Bligh and Campbell Newman.
