The Spanish Expedition
These soldiers were part of a big journey. They traveled from a city called Santa Marta. Their goal was to explore and conquer new lands for Spain. They were led by a famous Spanish leader named Gonzalo Jiménez de Quesada.
Meeting the Muisca People
During their journey, they met the Muisca Confederation. The Muisca were a group of native people who lived in this area. The Spanish expedition led to the founding of Simití as a new settlement.
