Simon Crowe is an Irish musician. He was born in Dublin, Ireland, on April 28, 1955. Simon is best known as the drummer and a backing singer for the famous Irish new wave band, The Boomtown Rats.

The Boomtown Rats: A Band's Journey
The band that Simon Crowe is famous for is called The Boomtown Rats. They first formed in 1975. At the very beginning, they were known by a different name: the "Nightlife Thugs."
Early Success and Hits
The Boomtown Rats became very popular. They had many hit songs in the United Kingdom. These hits came out during the 1970s and early 1980s. They had eighteen hit singles in total.
Life After The Boomtown Rats
The Boomtown Rats broke up in 1986. After the band split, Simon Crowe moved to Devon in England. He lived there for several years. While in Devon, he played music with a folk group. This group was called Jiggerypipery. They were based in the city of Exeter.
Simon also played with other bands. One band was named The Velcro Flies. He played in this group with Garry Roberts, another former member of The Boomtown Rats. He also joined a band called Gung~Ho. In Gung~Ho, he played with Johnny Fingers, who was also from The Boomtown Rats.
Later, Simon Crowe and Garry Roberts formed a new group. They simply called this band The Rats. By 2009, The Rats included Simon Crowe on drums. Garry Roberts played the guitar. Pete Briquette played the bass guitar. Darren Beale was the lead guitar player. Bob Geldof, the lead singer of The Boomtown Rats, did not join this new group. Simon Crowe explained that Bob was "doing his own thing."
The Boomtown Rats Reunion
The Boomtown Rats got back together in 2013. The original members who reunited included Bob Geldof, Pete Briquette, Garry Roberts, and Simon Crowe. They started playing music together again.
