The Story of Sinalco
In 1902, a German scientist named Friedrich Eduard Bilz created something new. He invented a powder called "Bilz Brause," which was a type of sherbet. He teamed up with a businessman, Franz Hartmann, to sell it.
Soon, other companies started making similar powders. To stand out, Bilz and Hartmann held a contest to find a unique name for their product. They chose "Sinalco." This name comes from the Latin words sine alcohole, which means "without alcohol."
Sinalco was one of the very first drink brands to be sold all over the world. It became especially popular in South America and the Middle East.
Sinalco's Look Over Time
The well-known red circle trademark for Sinalco was officially registered in 1937. This is the logo you still see today.
In the 1950s, Sinalco introduced a special, unique bottle shape. This made their drinks easy to spot. The bottle design was updated again towards the end of the 1900s.
Besides the original Sinalco Orange, the company now makes many other kinds of soft drinks. As of 2009, Sinalco was the third most popular lemonade brand in Germany. Only Fanta and Sprite were more popular.
