Sir Edward Winnington was the oldest son of Sir Edward Winnington, 1st Baronet. His father made sure he had a good education. A priest named George Butt was his teacher. George Butt also went with him when he started studying at Christ Church, Oxford, which is a famous university.
Sir Edward Winnington married a woman named Anne. She was the daughter of Thomas, 1st Lord Foley. Sir Edward and Anne had five sons together. Their oldest son, Thomas, became the next Baronet after his father.

Sir Edward Winnington was a Member of Parliament (MP) for a long time. An MP is a person elected to represent an area in the country's government. He represented the area of Droitwich, Worcestershire. He was an MP from 1777 until 1805.
