Before this, in 1674, Francis and his two brothers, William and Winwood, faced serious accusations. They were involved in an incident concerning Thomas Preston, 3rd Viscount Tara. However, they were later cleared of any wrongdoing. The king even officially pardoned them.

A Time of Change in Politics

Sir Francis Blundell lived during a time of big political changes. One major event was the Glorious Revolution in 1689. This revolution changed who was king in England.

During this time, the Parliament of King James II of England made a decision against Sir Francis. He was "attainted," which meant he lost some of his rights and property. This was because of political disagreements.
