Francis Throckmorton was born in 1641. His father was Sir Robert Throckmorton, 1st Baronet, and his mother was Mary Smyth. Mary's father was Sir Francis Smyth from Leicestershire and Warwickshire. Francis also had an uncle named Charles Smyth, who was a Viscount.
His Marriage
Sir Francis married Anne Monson, who passed away in 1728. Anne's father, John Monson, was also a Catholic. Her grandfather was Admiral Sir William Monson, a famous naval officer. Anne sold a property called Kinnersley in 1666.
Later Life and Passing
Sir Francis Throckmorton died on November 7, 1680. He was buried in Weston Underwood, Buckinghamshire. His will, which is a legal document about his wishes for his property, was officially approved in 1681.
His Children
Sir Francis and Anne had several children:
- Mary Throckmorton, who married Martin Wollascot.
- Sir Robert Throckmorton, who became the 3rd Baronet after his father. He lived from 1662 to 1721.
- Anne Throckmorton (1664-1734), who became the leader (Abbess) of an English convent in Paris from 1720 to 1728.
- George Throckmorton (1671-1705), who chose a religious life.
Sir Francis and his wife, Anne, separated in 1677. Anne then went to live in a convent in Paris.
