Sir Frank Samuel Alexander, 1st Baronet (born June 17, 1881 – died July 18, 1959) was a British businessman. He owned and managed ships. He is best known for being the Lord Mayor of London from 1944 to 1945, which was during World War II.

Frank Alexander was born in London in 1881. He went to Highgate School from 1892 to 1898. Later in his life, from 1942 to 1950, he became a Governor of the school. This meant he helped manage and guide the school.
His Time in the Military
During the First World War, Frank Alexander served in the Royal Artillery. This was a part of the British Army that used cannons and other big guns. He reached the rank of Captain.
A Career in Shipping
After the war, Alexander became a very important person in the shipping world. He was a partner in a company called Capper, Alexander & Co. He was also a director of Alexander Shipping Co., Ltd. This company owned and operated ships.
He became the Chairman of the Baltic Mercantile and Shipping Exchange from 1939 to 1946. This is a famous marketplace where people arrange for ships to carry goods around the world.
