The Sir Harry Gibbs Legal Heritage Centre is a special museum in Brisbane, Australia. It's found on the ground floor of the Queen Elizabeth II Courts of Law. This is the only museum in Queensland that focuses on legal history. It's open from 9 AM to 5 PM, Monday to Friday, and it's free to visit!

About Sir Harry Gibbs and the Centre

This museum is named after a very important person, Sir Harry Gibbs. He was a top judge in Australia. Sir Harry Gibbs was the second person from Queensland to become the Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia. This is the highest court in the country. He held this important role from 1981 to 1987.

The museum is managed by the Supreme Court of Queensland Library. This library helps preserve the history of the law in Queensland. The Centre first opened its doors on 3 August 2012. It opened at the same time as the Queen Elizabeth II Courts of Law building in Brisbane.

The money to create the Centre came from a grant. This grant was provided by the Incorporated Council of Law Reporting in Queensland. They help publish legal decisions and reports.
