Sir John Frederick, 5th Baronet (born 1750, died 1825) was an important British politician. He served as a member of the House of Commons, which is like a main part of the British Parliament, for many years between 1774 and 1807.
Early Life and Education
John Frederick was born on March 18, 1750. He was the only son of Sir John Frederick, 4th Baronet and his mother, Susanna Hudson. His family lived at a place called Burwood Park in Surrey, England.
He went to Westminster School from 1760 to 1765, which is a famous school in London. After that, he studied at Trinity College, Oxford in 1767. From 1769 to 1772, he went on a special trip around Europe called the Grand Tour. This was a common trip for young, wealthy men to learn about art, history, and culture.
Political Journey
In 1774, John Frederick became a Member of Parliament (MP) for a place called Newport, Cornwall. An MP is someone elected to represent people in the House of Commons and help make laws.
He served as an MP for Newport until 1780. Later, in 1781, he was elected as an MP for Christchurch. When his father passed away in 1783, John became the 5th Baronet. He continued to be an MP for Christchurch.
In 1790, he was elected to represent his home county, Surrey, in Parliament. He held this important position until 1807.
Military Service
Besides his political work, Sir John Frederick also served in the military. He was a lieutenant-colonel in the 1st Supplementary Surrey Militia. This was a local army group, later known as the 2nd Royal Surrey Militia. He served from 1797 until he left in 1804. His son, Richard, also became an officer in the same regiment.
Family Life
Sir John Frederick married Mary Garth on October 15, 1778. Mary was the daughter of Richard Garth from Morden, Surrey. They had a large family with six sons and four daughters.

- Thomas Nathan Frederick: Born in 1783.

Sir John Frederick passed away on January 16, 1825. He was buried in Walton-on-Thames. There is a very unique pyramid-shaped monument there that honors both him and his wife.
