Early Life and Education

Patrick Blake was born around 1742. He was the oldest son of Andrew Blake, who lived in St. Kitts and Montserrat, and Marcella French from Ireland. When he was very young, in 1745, he inherited a lot of property from his grandfather, Patrick Blake.

Patrick went to a famous school called Eton College from 1758 to 1760. After that, he went to St. John’s College, Cambridge, a well-known university, in 1760 when he was 18 years old.

In 1762, on April 14, Patrick Blake married Annabella Bunbury. Her father was Rev. Sir William Bunbury, who also held the title of Baronet.

Sir Patrick Blake became a Member of Parliament (MP) in 1768. This means he was chosen by voters to represent them in the House of Commons. He won his first election for the area called Sudbury.

In 1772, on October 8, he officially received his title as a Baronet. This made him Sir Patrick Blake, 1st Baronet.

He tried to win re-election in 1774 but did not succeed at first. However, after a special review, he was allowed to return as the MP for Sudbury in 1775.

In 1780, he was very popular in Sudbury and won the election with the most votes. He continued to serve in Parliament until 1784. He did not run for election again that year.
