Sir Reginald has been married twice. In 1969, he married Annabel Jones. They had two daughters together: Samantha Cameron and Emily Sheffield. Later, in 1977, he married Victoria Penelope Walker. With Victoria, he had two more daughters and one son.

Sir Reginald Sheffield was involved in local government. He served as a Conservative Councillor on the Humberside County Council from 1985 to 1993. This means he helped make decisions for the local area.

He also owns Sutton Park, Yorkshire, which is a large estate and the family's historic home. He is also a director of a company called Normanby Estate Company Ltd.
