Sir Thomas Alston was born around 1676. He was the eldest son of Sir Rowland Alston, 2nd Baronet. His family lived in a place called Odell, Bedfordshire. Both sides of his family had strong Puritans in them. Puritans were a group of people who wanted to make the Church of England simpler.

Early Life and Education

Thomas went to Trinity College, Cambridge. This is a very famous university in England. After his education, he took on an important family role.

A Career in Parliament

In 1697, Thomas became the Baronet after his father passed away. A Baronet is a special title, like a knight, that is passed down in a family. From 1698 to 1701, he served as a Member of Parliament for the town of Bedford. This meant he represented the people of Bedford in the English Parliament. We do not know which political group he supported during his time in Parliament.

His Legacy

Sir Thomas Alston passed away in December 1714. He was likely in London at the time. He never married. Some stories said he had financial problems, but his will showed this was not true. His family estate in Odell and other properties in Bedfordshire were still in good condition. He also left many gifts to people in his will.
