Sister-in-law facts for kids
A sister-in-law is a family member you get through marriage. It's a special way to describe someone who becomes part of your family when people get married.
What is a Sister-in-Law?
There are two main ways someone can be your sister-in-law.
- First, your sister-in-law can be the wife of your brother. So, if your brother gets married, his wife becomes your sister-in-law.
- Second, your sister-in-law can be the sister of your spouse (your husband or wife). If you get married, your spouse's sister becomes your sister-in-law.
This means that a sister-in-law is connected to you by marriage, not by blood. It's a common family relationship in many cultures around the world.
