Sitka is a small, unincorporated community located in Clark County, Kansas, in the United States. An "unincorporated community" means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town.

Sitka's Story: From Past to Present

Sitka was founded in the year 1909. It once had its own post office, but that office closed on May 22, 1964.

The Old Train Depot

An important building from Sitka's past was the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe train station, known as a depot. It was built in 1930. This old depot was later moved to Dodge City. Today, you can find it as part of the Boot Hill Museum, where it helps tell the story of how people traveled and traded long ago.

Sitka Today

Today, Sitka is a very quiet place. It has only three houses where people live. You can also see a grain elevator, which is a tall building used to store grain. There are a few empty buildings and many old ruins. Most of the land in Sitka is private property.

Education for Sitka's Kids

The children living in Sitka attend public schools through the Ashland USD 220 school district. This district provides education for students in the area.
