Sixth Grade Secrets is a fun book by Louis Sachar. It's about Laura Sibbie, a sixth-grader who starts a secret club with her friends. The club breaks school rules! Laura wants to be a leader. She learns about friendships, rivalries, and being responsible. In the United Kingdom, this book is called Pig City. It came out with that name in 2009.
Story Summary
When Laura Sibbie starts a secret club at school, she makes her friends give her something embarrassing. This "insurance" makes sure they keep the club a secret. Laura promises not to tell anyone's secret unless they tell about the club.
Gabriel wants to join Laura's club. But there's a misunderstanding when Laura asks him. He gets upset and starts his own rival club called Monkey Town.
The two clubs start playing pranks on each other. These pranks get worse and cause trouble. Eventually, Gabriel steals the "insurance" secrets and tells everyone at school.
Later, Sheila and Howard, who don't like Laura, corner her after school. They cut a big piece out of her long hair. Laura gets a new, short, curly hairstyle. Gabriel arrives with flowers and likes her new look. Laura realizes how silly their fighting has been. She also sees that Gabriel really likes her.
