Ski Mont Rigaud facts for kids
Ski Mont Rigaud is a fun place where you can go skiing and snowboarding! It's located on Rigaud Mountain in Rigaud, Quebec, not too far from Montreal and the border with Ontario. It's one of only two ski hills still open in the Montreal suburbs, making it a special spot for winter sports lovers. It's super close to Montreal Island, just about 25 km (15 mi) to the west, which means you can get there in about 30 minutes! It's the only ski hill in the western part of Quebec, south of the Ottawa River. There's also a place nearby called "The Escapade" for cross-country skiing.

Learning to Ski and Snowboard
Ski Mont Rigaud is known as the "Ski Kindergarten of Quebec." This means it's a fantastic place for beginners to learn how to ski or snowboard. They offer special lessons to help kids and adults get started on the slopes.
Fun on the Slopes
The ski hill has lots of cool features for everyone. It has two snowparks where you can practice jumps and tricks. You can even ski at night because the slopes are lit up! The hill can make 100% of its own snow, so you can always count on good conditions.
Ski Lifts and Magic Carpets
As of 2007, Ski Mont Rigaud has one ski lift that can carry four people at a time. It also has two "magic carpets." These are like moving sidewalks that make it super easy for beginners to get up the gentle slopes without needing to use a traditional ski lift.
Off-Season Adventures
When there's no snow, Ski Mont Rigaud is still a place for outdoor fun!
Mountain Biking
In the warmer months, the area is open for mountain biking. There's even a special mountain bike camp for kids called Sprokids, where young riders can learn new skills.
Hiking and Climbing
You can also go hiking and running on the trails. If you like rock climbing, there are cliffs right next to the Mont Rigaud property that are maintained by the FQME (Quebec Federation of Mountain and Climbing).
