SkyPoint is an amazing observation deck in Australia, located high up in the Q1 skyscraper on the Gold Coast. It used to be called the Q1 Observation Deck or QDeck. This cool attraction is managed by a company called Ardent Leisure. From SkyPoint, you can see incredible views from about 230 meters (755 feet) above the ground!

History of SkyPoint

Building the Q1 Tower

The Q1 building, where SkyPoint is located, was built over three years, from 2002 to 2005. When it first opened on October 26, 2005, it had an observation deck. This deck was first known as the Q1 Observation Deck.

Changes in Ownership and Name

Originally, the observation deck was owned by Sunland. In 2006, it was sold to another group. Later, in the late 2000s, its name changed to the QDeck. In 2009, Ardent Leisure bought the observation deck. They spent about $1 million to make it even better. In 2010, they gave it the new name we know today: SkyPoint.

Starting the SkyPoint Climb

On September 26, 2011, work began on a new adventure called the SkyPoint Climb. This exciting climb officially opened on January 14, 2012. Many people wanted to work there, with over 100 applying for just 12 jobs!

Exploring SkyPoint Observation Deck

The SkyPoint Observation Deck is found on levels 77 and 78 of the Q1 building. It's a special place where you can learn about the area. It has a small museum, a weather station, and a lounge bar.

Australia's Unique Beachside View

This deck is the only one in Australia right next to a beach! It's big enough for 400 people to enjoy the views at once. You'll be 230 meters (755 feet) above Surfers Paradise beach.

Amazing 360-Degree Views

From SkyPoint, you can see all around! You get a full 360-degree view. Look north to Brisbane, west to the Gold Coast hinterland (the beautiful land behind the coast), south to Byron Bay, and east to the huge Pacific Ocean. Getting up there is super fast! An express elevator takes you 77 floors up in just 43 seconds.

Experience the SkyPoint Climb

The SkyPoint Climb is an incredible adventure where you walk on the outside of the Q1 tower! If you want to do this, you need to pay an extra fee.

What to Expect on the Climb

Before you start, you'll be given a special harness to keep you safe. Then, you'll walk up and around the very top of the tower. The whole journey takes about 1.5 hours. It's an amazing way to see the Gold Coast from even higher up!
