Skydra (Greek: Σκύδρα, pronounced [scˈiðra] in modern Greek) is a town and a municipality in Greece. It is located in the Pella region, which is part of Macedonia. Before 1926, Skydra was known as Vertekop.

How Skydra Became a Municipality
Skydra is a special kind of city called a municipality. In 2011, the way local governments worked in Greece changed. Because of this, the municipality of Skydra was formed by joining two older areas:
- Meniida
- Skydra (the original area)
The whole municipality of Skydra covers about 239.5 square kilometers. The main part, called the municipal unit of Skydra, is about 120.9 square kilometers.

The municipal unit of Skydra is made up of 12 smaller areas called communities. In 2021, a total of 14,353 people lived in these communities. The table below shows the population of each community:

Skydra Through Time: A Look at History
Skydra has a very old history! In an area called Mandalo, archaeologists found signs of an ancient settlement. They also discovered the foundations of a large building. This building was likely a temple dedicated to Zeus, who was a very important god in ancient Greek stories.
Sports in Skydra
Skydra is a town that loves sports! It has several teams that compete in different leagues.
Football Teams
The town is home to two football clubs:
- Aetos Skydra F.C. This team plays in the Greek Football League 2, which is a higher level of competition.
- Nea Genia Skydras This team plays in the fifth Division of Greece. This is an amateur league, meaning the players usually play for fun and love of the game.
Volleyball Team
Skydra also has a successful volleyball team called Aristotelis Skydras V.C.. This team recently moved up to the A2 Volleyball League, which is a significant achievement!
