Skye D. McNiel (born July 11, 1978) is an American politician. She served in the Oklahoma House of Representatives from 2006 to 2013. McNiel represented the 29th district in Oklahoma. She did not run for re-election in 2014.

Skye McNiel was born in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. She grew up and went to Bristow High School. After high school, she attended Oklahoma State University. There, she earned two bachelor's degrees. Her studies were in agriculture communications and animal science.
Her Career Before Politics
Before becoming a politician, Skye McNiel was a business owner. She has a strong background in agriculture. She also helped with her family's livestock business. This business is called Mid America Stockyards at Bristow. She started helping with it when she was ten years old. McNiel also served as president of the Bristow Education Foundation. She was also president of the Bristow Chamber of Commerce.
Her Time in Politics
Skye McNiel served in the Oklahoma House of Representatives. She held several important roles. She was the Assistant Majority Whip. She also served as the Majority Caucus Vice Chairman. McNiel was the Vice Chair of the Natural Resources Committee. She also worked on other committees. These included Economic Development and Financial Services. She also served on the Higher Education & Career Tech and Wildlife Committees.
During her time, McNiel sponsored a law. This law allowed the slaughter of horses in Oklahoma. This legislation had support from groups like the Oklahoma Farm Bureau. The Oklahoma Veterinarian Medical Association also supported it. However, some animal rights activists were very upset by this law. The Governor, Mary Fallin, signed this legislation into law.
