Sleeper is located in the central part of Missouri. You can find it about one mile north of Interstate 44, a major highway. It sits right where two local roads, Route F and Route J, meet.

This community is about six miles northeast of a larger town called Lebanon. It's also about five miles southwest of another community named Stoutland. In Sleeper itself, you'll find several homes and a fire station.

How Did Sleeper Get Its Name?

The community of Sleeper once had its own post office. This post office first opened in 1883. It served the area for many years before closing down in 1955.

The name "Sleeper" has an interesting story! The community was named after a railroad employee. This person was known for often looking very tired or "sleepy." So, the name "Sleeper" stuck for the community.
