About the Slender Tree Frog
These frogs are quite small. They can grow up to 4.5 centimeters (about 1.8 inches) long.
What Do They Look Like?
Slender tree frogs can be different colors. Some are pale brown, while others are bright green. They also have cool stripes running down their sides.
Where Do They Live?
Adult slender tree frogs like to live near water. You can find them close to the coast or further inland. They always stay near ponds, swamps, or other bodies of water.
Life Cycle
Female slender tree frogs lay their eggs on plants that are underwater. When the eggs hatch, tiny tadpoles emerge.
Tadpole Features
The tadpoles of the slender tree frog are light in color. They also have stripes on their sides, just like the adult frogs. These tadpoles can grow a bit longer than the adult frogs, reaching up to 5.5 centimeters (about 2.2 inches). They have two rows of teeth on their upper jaw and three rows of teeth on their lower jaw.
Name Origin
Even though this frog's scientific name, Litoria adelaidensis, sounds like it comes from the city Adelaide, these frogs actually do not live in Adelaide.
