About SNoW

Early Life and Music Beginnings

SNoW moved to Los Angeles when she was just five years old. She grew up speaking two languages, which means she was in a bilingual environment. She enjoys music from artists like Ani DiFranco, Iggy Pop, Talking Heads, and Tracy Chapman.

Her first song, called "Yes," was released in November 2004. It came out through an independent music company. In 2005, she joined a bigger music company, Sony Music Entertainment Japan. That July, she released another song called Hanabi made Ato Sukoshi, which means "Until the Fireworks."

Popular Songs and Anime Themes

SNoW's third song, Sakasama no Chō (meaning "Resting Butterfly"), became very popular. It was released on January 25, 2006. This song was used as the opening theme for the 2005-2006 anime series Jigoku Shoujo, also known as "Hell Girl." Over 50,000 copies of the song were sold!

The song also inspired a movie called Humoresque ~Sakasama no Chō~ in 2006. It was even featured in an episode of the next season of the anime, Jigoku Shoujo Futakomori.

SNoW also sang and helped write the opening theme for the second season of Jigoku Shōjo. This song was called NightmaRe and was released as a single on December 6, 2006.

Taking a Break and Returning to Music

SNoW's contract with Sony Music ended in July 2007. She decided to take a break from music because she felt a lot of pressure from her work and personal life.

In 2008 and 2009, she worked with another artist named SoulJa. She used the name Yukie for their songs, which included "Soba ni Iru ne" and "Colorz of Love," and "DaBounce."

In 2009, SNoW joined Kazuya Yoshii's tour as a backing vocalist. Kazuya Yoshii is from the band The Yellow Monkeys. Later, in 2015, she recorded two songs for YUKI JOLLY ROGER's first album, "The Logbook I."

On March 27, 2017, SNoW released three new songs. This marked the start of her music career again as a singer and songwriter. She even said on her official website, "Sorry for the 10 year wait!"

In 2024, SNoW raised money through a Kickstarter campaign. This helped her finish her album, Into Me, which was released on February 28, 2025.
