Snowdome
The main ski slope at the Snowdome.

The Snowdome is a special place in Tamworth, Staffordshire, England, where you can enjoy winter sports all year round! It's an indoor ski slope, which means it has real snow and slopes inside a building. It first opened its doors in May 1994. This made it the very first full-sized indoor ski slope in the United Kingdom.

What Can You Do at the Snowdome?

The Snowdome is packed with fun activities for everyone, whether you're new to skiing or already a pro. It's a great place to learn and practice different snow and ice sports.

The Main Ski Slope

The main ski slope is like a giant snowy hill inside. It's about 170 meters (that's like 170 big steps!) long and 30 meters wide. This slope is perfect for skiing and snowboarding. To get back to the top, you can use two moving walkways called 'travelators' or two rope-tows.

Learning to Ski or Snowboard

If you're just starting out, there's a special learner slope. It's located right underneath the main slope. This area is flatter and safer for beginners to get comfortable on skis or a snowboard.

Fun Features for Experienced Riders

For those who love tricks and jumps, the main slope has 'ramp nights'. During these times, cool objects are added to the slope. You might see a gas pipe, a mini rail, or a quarter pipe. These are perfect for practicing your freestyle moves!

Ice Skating and Snow Fun

The Snowdome isn't just for skiing and snowboarding. It also has a large ice rink where you can go ice skating. Plus, there's a unique ice track, which is the only one of its kind in the UK! This track winds around the Snow Fun Park and the ice rink.

The Snow Fun Park

Imagine playing in real snow indoors! The Snow Fun Park is a special area where you can have snowball fights, build snowmen, or slide down a snow slide. It's a fantastic place for families and friends to have fun in the snow, no matter the weather outside.

Other Activities and Facilities

Beyond the snow and ice, the Snowdome offers even more ways to stay active. There's a 25-meter swimming pool where you can swim laps or just splash around. There's also a gym called 'Snowdome Fitness' if you like to work out.

Places to Eat and Shop

After all that activity, you might get hungry or want to relax. The Snowdome has a bar called Aspens, a shop called Ellis Brigham for sports gear, and a Starbucks coffee shop. These places are great for grabbing a snack, a drink, or finding new equipment.
