Social Futebol Clube, often called just Social, is a football club from Coronel Fabriciano, Brazil. It was started in 1944. The team's home field is Louis Ensch Stadium, which can hold up to 6,000 fans. Social even played in a big national competition, the Brazilian Championship Third Level, in 1997.

Club History

How Social Futebol Clube Started

Social Futebol Clube was founded on October 1, 1944. This was even before Coronel Fabriciano became its own city. People thought about naming the club "Comercial" because of a businessman from Antônio Dias. But they chose "Social" instead. This name was picked to show that the team represented everyone in the town, no matter their background.

In the early days, many players were workers from a steel company called Belgo Mineira Siderurgic. Most of the fans came from the downtown area of Fabriciano. The club played its first professional game in 1981.

Playing in National Competitions

In 1997, Social Futebol Clube played in the Brazilian Championship Third Level. This is a big national football competition. Social did well and reached the second round. However, they were eventually defeated by a team called Juventus from São Paulo.
