Club History
Social Futebol Clube was founded on October 1, 1944. This was before Coronel Fabriciano became its own city. People thought about naming the club Comercial. This was because a businessman from Antônio Dias had a lot of influence.
However, the name Social was chosen instead. This name was picked to show that the team represented everyone in the town. The word "social" means the same thing in Portuguese as it does in English.
Early Years and First Professional Game
In the club's early days, many players worked at the Belgo Mineira Siderurgic factory. Most of the fans were people from downtown Fabriciano. They came from all different parts of society.
Social played its first professional game in 1981. This was a big step for the club.
