Soft Sands is a music group from a place called Galiwin'ku. This town is on Elcho Island in Arnhem Land, Australia. The band started in 1970. They play a mix of country and gospel music.
Soft Sands was one of the first bands from Arnhem Land to use modern musical instruments. They also used new music styles and technology. This helped shape popular music in the Top End region of Australia. The band members are Yolŋu people. They sing in both English and their traditional language, Yolŋu Matha.
In 2006, Soft Sands was honored. They were added to the Hall of Fame at the National Indigenous Music Awards. This is a big award for Indigenous musicians.
