Solkadhi is a refreshing drink from India, especially popular in the coastal areas of Goa and Maharashtra. People often enjoy it with their meals, or sometimes after eating. It's a cool, pinkish drink made from creamy coconut milk and a special fruit called kokum.
This drink is very popular in places like Goa, southern Maharashtra, and northern Karnataka. It gets its beautiful deep purple-pink color from the kokum fruit. Kokum is also known as aamsol or aamsul. It comes from a plant called Garcinia indica.
How Solkadhi is Made
Making Solkadhi starts with fresh coconut milk. This milk is squeezed from coconuts. You can also find coconut milk ready to use in cartons.
The coconut milk is then mixed with kokum. A little bit of salt is added for taste. Sometimes, people also add mustard seeds or a paste made from chili and garlic. These ingredients make the drink taste even better.
