Soman Chainani is an American author. He is best known for writing the popular children's book series The School for Good and Evil. Some of his exciting stories have even been turned into movies.

Soman Chainani's Early Life and Education
Soman Chainani grew up in Key Biscayne, Florida. His family was one of the few with Indian roots in the area. He went to Harvard University and earned a degree in English and American Literature in 2001. After Harvard, he studied film at Columbia University. There, he joined their MFA film program.
Soman Chainani's Writing Career
Soman Chainani's most famous work is The School for Good and Evil series. The first book quickly became a New York Times Best Seller. Over 4 million copies of the series have been sold worldwide. It has been translated into 35 languages across six continents.
The School for Good and Evil Series
The first book was made into a major movie by Netflix. This film became the number one movie in over 80 countries. All of his other books in the series also became New York Times Best Sellers. These include A World Without Princes, The Last Ever After, Quests for Glory, A Crystal of Time, and One True King.
Other Books by Soman Chainani
Chainani also wrote a book of retold fairytales called Beasts and Beauty. It was released in September 2021 and received great reviews. Critics called the stories "expertly crafted" and full of "wonder, terror, and magic." Beasts & Beauty also became an instant New York Times bestseller. This was Soman's seventh bestseller in a row! This book is planned to become a TV series by Sony 3000. Soman will help write and produce it.
His book, Rise of the School for Good and Evil, came out in May 2022. It also became a New York Times Bestseller. Publishers Weekly described it as an "adventurous fantasy." A follow-up book, Fall of the School for Good and Evil, was released in May 2023.
In 2024, Soman announced his next book, Young World. This book will be a global political thriller. It is expected in 2026. It tells the story of a 17-year-old who becomes President of the United States against all odds.
