Sonaguera facts for kids
Sonaguera is a lively town and a larger area called a municipality in the country of Honduras. Honduras is located in Central America. Sonaguera is found in the Colón Department, about an hour's drive southeast of a city called La Ceiba.
The town of Sonaguera has about 15,730 people living there, based on numbers from 2023. The entire Sonaguera Municipality is much larger, with a population of around 48,087 people.
Farming and Oranges
The land around Sonaguera is mostly used for farming. The most important crop grown here is oranges! Farmers in Sonaguera grow many different kinds of oranges. Two popular types are Valencia oranges and Pina oranges.
The Orange Growers' Group
Orange farming is a big part of life and work in Sonaguera. To help the farmers, there is a special group called the Association of Citricultores, Sonaguera, Colon (ACISON). This group works to support all the orange growers in the area. They help farmers with growing, harvesting, and selling their delicious oranges.
