In Tenerife, you can find Sonchus congestus in areas with forests. It grows in a place called Sierra Anaga. You can also see it along the northern coast of the island. It usually lives at heights between 100–800 m (330–2,620 ft) above sea level.
This plant also grows in the central and northern parts of another island, Gran Canaria.
