About Song Nan Zhang's Life and Art
Song Nan Zhang was born in Shanghai in 1942. He grew up to become a talented artist and author. His work often shares stories and pictures that teach children about different cultures and ideas.
His Education Journey
Zhang studied art for many years. He earned two degrees from the Central Institute of Fine Arts in Beijing, China. He got his first degree in 1964 and a higher degree in 1980. Later, he also studied art in Paris, France, at a famous school called the École des Beaux-Arts from 1984 to 1985.
His Career as an Artist and Teacher
After finishing his studies at the Central Institute of Fine Arts, Zhang started working there. He was an art professor from 1980 to 1988. He also held important leadership roles, like deputy director and dean of the mural department. Murals are large paintings on walls.
In 1988, Song Nan Zhang moved to Canada. Since then, his beautiful paintings have been shown in many places around the world. These places include the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts in Canada, and cities in China, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Paris, and Seoul.
