Sophie Nélisse was born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, on March 27, 2000. Her family is of French-Canadian background. When Sophie was four, her family moved to Montreal, Quebec.
Sophie's mother, Pauline Belhumeur, stopped her job as a teacher in 2013. She became a talent manager for both Sophie and her younger sister, Isabelle Nélisse. Sophie speaks both French and English very well.
Acting Career Highlights
Sophie first trained in gymnastics, hoping to go to the Olympics. She joined a talent agency to earn money for her training. However, after getting a big role in The Book Thief, she decided to focus on acting instead. She also became good friends with her co-star from that movie, Nico Liersch.
