Sotaro Yasunaga (安永 聡太郎, Yasunaga Sōtarō), born on April 20, 1976, is a Japanese former footballer. He played as a forward, which means he was a player who mainly tried to score goals. After his playing career, he became a manager (coach). He is currently the head coach for the Cambodian Premier League club Angkor Tiger.

Sotaro Yasunaga's Playing Career
Early Days and First Club
Sotaro Yasunaga was born in Ube, Yamaguchi, Japan. He started his football journey at Shimizu Commercial High School. After finishing high school, he joined Yokohama Marinos in 1995. This team later became known as Yokohama F. Marinos.
Winning the J1 League
In his very first season with Yokohama Marinos in 1995, Yasunaga played in many matches. His team had a fantastic year and won the J1 League championship. This was a great start to his professional career.
Playing in Spain
In 1997, Yasunaga moved to Spain to play for Lleida. This club was in the Segunda División, which is the second-highest football league in Spain. He played 34 matches for Lleida, scoring 4 goals. He returned to Yokohama Marinos in 1998.
Moving to Shimizu S-Pulse
In 1999, Yasunaga joined Shimizu S-Pulse. He became a regular player for this team. In 1999, Shimizu S-Pulse finished in second place in the J1 League. The club also won the 1999–2000 Asian Cup Winners' Cup, a big competition for teams in Asia.
Return to Yokohama and Retirement
Yasunaga returned to Yokohama F. Marinos in September 2001. However, he didn't play as much this time. In 2002, he went back to Spain for a short time to play for Racing Ferrol, another club in the Segunda División. He came back to Yokohama F. Marinos in 2003. His last club was Kashiwa Reysol, where he played in 2005 before retiring from playing football at the end of that season.
Representing Japan
Playing for the U-20 National Team
In April 1995, Sotaro Yasunaga was chosen to play for the Japan U-20 national team. He played in the 1995 World Youth Championship. He played in all four matches for Japan in that tournament. He even scored a goal against the Burundi team.
Sotaro Yasunaga's Coaching Career
Starting as a Manager
After his playing career, Yasunaga decided to become a football manager, also known as a coach. On August 20, 2016, he became the manager of J3 League club SC Sagamihara. He coached the team until the end of the 2017 season.
Coaching Angkor Tiger FC
More recently, on May 29, 2025, Sotaro Yasunaga became the manager of Angkor Tiger FC. This club plays in the Cambodian Premier League. He is preparing the team for the upcoming 2025–26 season.
