Sotaro Yasunaga (安永 聡太郎, Yasunaga Sōtarō, born April 20, 1976) is a Japanese former footballer and manager. He played as a forward for several teams in Japan and Spain.

Playing Career Highlights

Sotaro Yasunaga was born in Ube, Japan, on April 20, 1976. He started his professional football journey after finishing high school.

Early Club Years

In 1995, Yasunaga joined Yokohama Marinos. This team later became known as Yokohama F. Marinos. In his first year, he played in many games. His team even won the J1 League championship that season!

Playing in Spain

In 1997, Yasunaga moved to Spain to play for Lleida. This club was in the Segunda División, which is Spain's second-highest football league. After playing in Spain, he returned to Yokohama Marinos in 1998.

Success with Shimizu S-Pulse

In 1999, Yasunaga joined Shimizu S-Pulse. He became a regular player for this team. They finished second in the J1 League that year. The club also won the 1999–2000 Asian Cup Winners' Cup in Asia. This was a big achievement for the team.

Return to Yokohama and Retirement

Yasunaga went back to Yokohama F. Marinos in late 2001. However, he did not play as much as before. In 2002, he went back to Spain for a short time to play for Racing Ferrol. He returned to Yokohama F. Marinos in 2003. He later joined Kashiwa Reysol in 2005. Yasunaga retired from playing football at the end of the 2005 season.

National Team Experience

In April 1995, Yasunaga was chosen to play for the Japan U-20 national team. He played in the 1995 World Youth Championship. He played in all four matches and even scored a goal against the team from Burundi.

Coaching Career

After his playing days, Sotaro Yasunaga became a football manager. In August 2016, he became the manager for SC Sagamihara. He managed the team until the end of the 2017 season.
