South Alamo is a small community in Hidalgo County, Texas, United States. It is called a census-designated place (CDP) because it's an area that looks like a town but doesn't have its own local government. People in the area sometimes call it "Little Mex."
In 2020, about 3,414 people lived in South Alamo. It is part of a larger group of cities called the McAllen–Edinburg–Mission Metropolitan Statistical Area. This means it's connected to the bigger cities of McAllen, Edinburg, and Mission.
