South Andaman district facts for kids
South Andaman district is one of three districts in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. These islands are a special part of India, located in the Bay of Bengal. The main town and capital of this area is Port Blair, which is also the headquarters for the South Andaman district. This district covers an area of about 2,980 square kilometers.
People of South Andaman
Based on a count from 2011, the South Andaman district has a population of about 237,586 people. This is similar to the number of people living in a country like Vanuatu.

Indigenous Communities
Four groups of native people, known as Andamanese, live in this district. These groups are the Onges, Jarawas, Great Andamanese, and Sentinalese. They have lived on these islands for a very long time.
