South Hills is found in the northern part of Jefferson County. It shares its borders with other areas. To the south and east, it is next to Montana City. To the north, it borders the city of Helena, which is in Lewis and Clark County.
Land Area and Water
The U.S. Census Bureau states that the South Hills CDP covers an area of about 15.2 square kilometers (or 5.87 square miles). All of this area is land; there is no water within its borders. Small streams that flow east help drain the community. These streams eventually join Prickly Pear Creek, which then flows north into the Missouri River.
