History of Southlake Town Square
The idea for Southlake Town Square started in the 1990s. Back then, this area was mostly open fields. People wanted to create a special downtown area for the city of Southlake.
Building Phase One
The city council approved the plans, and a company called Cooper & Stebbins began building. The first part, called Phase I, was finished in 1999. It included many important buildings and areas:
- The Southlake Town Hall
- The City of Southlake Public Library
- A main square with lots of trees and plants
- Rustin Park, which has a gazebo and a pond
- Four blocks of shops with offices above them
- The only Post Office in the area
Expanding with Phase Two
In 2006, Cooper & Stebbins opened Phase II of Southlake Town Square. This added even more to the growing area. It helped make Southlake Town Square the big, busy place it is today.
