Title card

Space Angel was an exciting animated science fiction TV show made in the United States between 1962 and 1964. It used a special animation trick called Synchro-Vox. This technique made it look like the characters' mouths were moving like real people. The same trick was used in another cartoon from the same studio, Cambria Productions, called Clutch Cargo. The show was created by Dick Darley, who also made the live-action show Space Patrol in the 1950s.

The series followed the adventures of three brave astronauts. They worked for the Earth Bureau of Investigation's Interplanetary Space Force. Their spaceship was called the Starduster. The team included:

  • Captain Scott McCloud, also known as "the Space Angel." He was the pilot and was voiced by Ned Lefebver.
  • Crystal Mace, the expert in electronics and communications. She was voiced by Margaret Kerry.
  • Taurus, a super strong engineer and gunner from Scotland. He was voiced by Hal Smith.

Adventures and Episodes

The Space Angel show had 52 different stories. Each story was split into five parts. This meant there were a total of 260 short episodes for fans to enjoy.

Space Angel Beyond the TV Screen

Space Angel also appeared in other places besides television.

  • In 1963, a famous artist named Alex Toth drew a six-page Space Angel story. It was for a children's magazine called Jack & Jill. This helped promote the cartoon show.
  • One of the episodes, "The Gladiators," was shown on a TV series called Cinema Insomnia.
  • On July 29, 2008, a company named VCI Entertainment released a DVD. This DVD included nine different Space Angel stories for people to watch at home.
