About Spanish Broom

Spanish Broom is a plant that grows in warm, sunny places. You can find it around the Mediterranean Sea, in southern Europe, southwest Asia, and northwest Africa. It likes dry, sandy soils. This plant is the only species in its group, called Spartium. But it is related to other plants known as brooms, like those in the Cytisus and Genista groups.

What Spanish Broom Looks Like

Spanish Broom plants usually grow to be about 2 to 4 meters tall. That's like 6 to 13 feet, which is taller than most people! Sometimes, they can even reach 5 meters. The main stems can be up to 5 centimeters thick, which is about 2 inches. They have bright yellow, fragrant flowers that look a bit like pea flowers.
