Sparkletts is a well-known brand of bottled water. It also delivers water and coffee to homes and offices. The company started in Los Angeles in 1925. Today, DS Services of America, Inc. owns Sparkletts.

The Story of Sparkletts

Sparkletts was started in 1925. A man named Burton N. Arnds, Sr. and his partners began the company. They were in Los Angeles, California. Mr. Arnds was not happy with the city's water supply. So, he built a plant to bottle water. This plant was near a special well in east Los Angeles. He named his new company Sparkling Artesian Water Co.

As more people wanted their water, the company grew. It needed a bigger place. So, Mr. Arnds built a much larger plant. It was 80,000 square feet! This new plant was north of downtown Los Angeles. The area had lots of underground water. This meant the plant always had enough water to bottle.

In 1964, Sparkletts was sold to a company called Foremost Dairies. Later, another company, McKesson-Roberts, bought Foremost Dairies. In 2000, Sparkletts became part of the Danone Group. Then, in 2003, a new company called DS Waters was created. Sparkletts became one of its main bottled water delivery brands. In 2014, DS Waters of America, Inc. changed its name. It became DS Services of America, Inc.

Sparkletts delivers many popular drinks. These include FIJI Water, LaCroix, and Sparkling ICE. They also deliver different coffee brands. The company was even shown on a TV show called Visiting... with Huell Howser.

Helping the Environment and Communities

Sparkletts has helped people in need. In a small town called Hinkley, California, about 200 people had a problem. Their well water was not safe to drink. It had a harmful chemical in it. This chemical came from a nearby natural gas pumping station. The situation in Hinkley was even shown in the movie "Erin Brockovich".

Sparkletts provided bottled water for these residents. They used it for cooking and drinking. This helped the people of Hinkley. It made life easier for them when they could not use their own running water.
