Spider-Man J (also known as スパイダーマンJ or Supaidāman J in Japanese) is a fun manga series. It was created by Yamanaka Akira. This comic ran in a magazine called Comic BomBom. It was published from November 2004 to May 2005. This story is a unique take on Spider-Man. It is not connected to other Spider-Man manga.

The Story of Spider-Man J
The story of Spider-Man J takes place in the year 200X. A bad guy named Lord Gokibu wants to steal an old fossil. This fossil is called the Insect King.
A 15-year-old boy named Sho Amano gains special spider powers. He uses these powers to become Spider-Man J. His mission is to stop Lord Gokibu. As Spider-Man J, he meets other heroes and villains. These characters are Japanese versions of famous Marvel characters. He meets heroes like Elektra, Blade, and the Fantastic Four. He also faces villains like Dr. Doom.
Meet the Characters
Sho Amano (Spider-Man J)
Sho Amano (天野翔, Shō Amanō) is a 15-year-old boy. He has amazing spider-like abilities. Sho keeps his identity as Spider-Man J a secret. He worries his family or friends might get hurt if people knew.
Only Detective Makoto knows Sho's secret. Sho is good at making special weapons. He creates them using his web-shooters. Sho is a bit shy and clumsy. He does not have many friends. He has three pets: a cat named Leo, a dog named Par, and a bird named Don. These pets are a small tribute to an old Japanese Spider-Man TV show. In the English version of the manga, Sho is called Peter Parker.
Makoto (Detective Flynn)
Makoto (誠) is a detective. He became a police officer to help and protect people. He has a funny sense of humor. But he is also very kind and believes in doing what is right. In the English version, he is known as Detective Flynn.
Mami Amano (Aunt May)
Mami Amano (天野真美, Amanō Māmi) is Sho's young and cheerful aunt. She loves Sho very much, like he is her own son. She is also very protective of him. Mami owns her own dress shop. She is usually very relaxed. She is also famous for making spicy curry. In the English version, she is called Aunt May.
Megumi (Mary Jane Watson)
Megumi (めぐみ) is Sho Amano's classmate. She is also his girlfriend. Megumi is a tomboy. She cares a lot about everyone, especially Sho. She is very much in love with him. In the English version, she is known as Mary Jane Watson.
Densuke (Harold Osborn)
Densuke (デンスケ) is Sho's classmate and friend. He is a big fan of Spider-Man J. He also loves the Comic BomBom magazine. You can tell because his shirt says "Bom." In the English version, he is called Harold Osborn.
Lord Gokibu (Lord Beastius)
Lord Gokibu (ゴキブ・リーダー, Gokibu Riidaa) is the main villain in the manga. We do not know much about his past. In the English version, he is known as Lord Beastius.
Spider-Man J in Other Stories
Spider-Man J is now part of the Marvel Multiverse. The Marvel Multiverse is like a collection of many different universes. Each universe has its own versions of heroes. Spider-Man J takes place on Earth-7041.
During a big comic book event called Spider-Verse, Sho Amano joins other Spider-People. He teams up with the main Peter Parker (from Earth-616). He also works with Mangaverse Spider-Man and Takuya Yamashiro (from the Japanese Spider-Man TV show). They all fight against powerful villains called Solus and the Inheritors.
How the Manga Was Published
The Spider-Man J manga was translated into English. It first appeared in a comic book series called Spider-Man Family. This started in issue 1, volume 2.
Later, the English version was released in two special books. These books are called "Digests" by Marvel Comics. The first book was named "Japanese Knights." The second book was called "Japanese Daze."
