The Story of Spookley
The movie begins at Holiday Hill Farm. Two bats, Boris and Bella, discover something very unusual in the pumpkin patch. They quickly tell Jack, the farm's scarecrow, about their amazing find.
What they found was a young, square pumpkin! This special pumpkin introduces himself as Spookley. Jack the scarecrow likes Spookley right away.
However, not everyone is so kind. Little Tom, a small pumpkin, starts to tease Spookley. He says that only round pumpkins are "real" pumpkins. Jack quickly stops Little Tom's mean words.
The Jack-a-Lympics Contest
Jack decides to hold a fun competition called the 'Jack-a-Lympics'. This event is designed to find the "Pick of the Patch" – the best pumpkin. Three friendly spiders feel sorry for Spookley and decide to help him. They also hope to get a share of the prize, which is a crown made of candy corn!
During the competition, Big Tom and Little Tom try to cheat. They use their vine to get an unfair advantage. Because of this, they are disqualified many times. Bobo, a pumpkin who loves to show off, ends up winning most of the events.
Spookley tries his best, but he isn't good at any of the games. This makes him feel very sad and discouraged.
A Storm and a Hero
After Bobo is crowned the winner, a big wind storm suddenly hits the pumpkin patch. The strong winds blow all the round pumpkins around. Jack the scarecrow gets stuck under a burning tree branch.
But Spookley is different. Because he is square, he doesn't roll away in the wind like the other pumpkins. Using his cleverness, Spookley manages to save Jack from the fire. He also helps his pumpkin friends from being washed away by the river. All the other pumpkins are very thankful to Spookley for saving them.
Spookley's Special Future
After the storm passes, the farmer comes to check on the pumpkin patch. He sees Spookley and is very impressed by his unique square shape. The farmer decides to make Spookley his own special jack-o'-lantern.
The movie also features the Honeydoos, three singing honeydew melons. They sing in a style similar to the famous group The Pointer Sisters.
