The St. John the Baptist Cathedral (which in Spanish is Catedral de San Juan Bautista de Carora) is a Catholic church. It is located in the city of Carora, in the Lara state of Venezuela. People also call it the Cathedral of Carora.

This beautiful church is decorated completely in white. It is very important for its religious history and as a cultural landmark. Many tourists visit it every year. The cathedral is the main church for the Catholic Diocese of Carora. This diocese was created on July 22, 1992, by Pope John Paul II. The building officially became a cathedral on November 11, 1992.

History of the Cathedral

The St. John the Baptist Cathedral stands in the old colonial part of Carora. It is right across from Bolivar Square. Building this church took about 100 years to complete.

Architectural Style

The cathedral shows a mix of old building styles. It has a baroque style from the colonial period. You can also see parts of Renaissance architecture in its design.
